I hate it when people say “Cray” or “Cray Cray” to indicate “Crazy”.
First off, I feel like “cray” has jumped the shark. Dude, “Niggas in Paris” came out NEARLY TWO YEARS ago.
Also, unless you’re Kanye West, I do not accept the elision of the “Z”. Dude.
But because I feel like this isn’t a worthwhile enough post with just that complaint, I will add some other things people say that I hate. Well, two other things.
1) “Yolo” for You Only Live Once. Seriously.
2)”You’re fine” (which I think is a regionalism) to mean “it is fine,” or “don’t worry about it.” For example, in case this is a regionalism, let’s say I’m all, “Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t respond to your email sooner,” and then the person responds, “you’re fine.” Dude, I know I’m fine. I don’t think there is anything wrong with me! Just say, “don’t worry about it” or “it is fine” ! “You’re fine” is a judgment about me that you are totally unqualified and unauthorized to make!
Ok, so two weeks of the Monday night class are done, and I only have 13 more to go. I cannot wait until I am done teaching on Monday nights! Time for bed.
