First of all? I love you guys. Second? The Dude and I spoke about all this, and we agree that whatever we do, we're gonna do it our way - whatever that entails. Professorsusan? I tell G Happy Father's day and stuff every year, although he doesn't demand such stuff at all, and not only is he not technically my dad but also he has no bio kids of his own. At the end of the day, my issue is that I would really love it if people acknowledged people who give them care, but I'd also love it if people didn't maternalize me in the service of that. What I didn't write in this post was that after that host "Happy Mothers Day'ed" me, I ran into a former student. And I learned that, having just graduated from a Good Law School, that he's been hired in the Attorney's General office of the state in which he went to law school. Maybe I don't need to worry so much about being "mothered." At the end of the day, I am inspiring awesome stuff, that has nothing to do with my ovaries or uterus.
